How to get to Istria?

Istria, known as the Pearl of the Northern Adriatic, is a destination you must put on your “to visit” list. Numerous sights, charming towns, excellent gastronomic offer, beautiful nature, and the kindness of its locals, are the characteristics that will make you want to visit Istria again.

We bring you some useful information and directions how to get to Istria.

In case you don’t live in Croatia, the best option is travelling by airplane. The largest Istrian city is Pula, where the airport is located. If you do not have a direct flight from your city to Pula, then the best choice is to look for a flight via Zagreb that has excellent connections with airports around the world. If you travel by regular flights, low cost, or charter flights, you will land at Pula Airport, the largest Istrian international airport. Pula Airport is only 5 kilometers away from the city center, which you can always easily reach by taxi, bus, or transfer for which you can contact us. There is Vrsar International Airport , nearby airport and it is intended to accommodate smaller aircraft. Several major European cities are connected by rail to Rijeka, but there are direct lines from Munich and Ljubljana to Rijeka, which is very well connected to other parts of Croatia by bus.

When you arrive in Zagreb, you have a few options to get to the desired location in Istria - bus, train, transfer, plane. The most common line is the bus line, so we suggest you to take a bus to Istria.

If you are coming from Italy or from Istria and you want to visit Italy, you can do it without any problems because there are several active bus lines from Trieste. In addition to bus lines, you can also choose catamaran lines from Venice that sail to several Istrian towns. There are also catamaran lines from Zadar to Pula, ferry from Split to Rijeka.

If you come from the south of Croatia, for example Dubrovnik or Split, it is best to go to Istria by car or bus.

For a more comfortable ride, but also to save time, we recommend driving a car. Feel free to contact us if you need to arrange a transfer to Istria.

In case you are somewhere on the Croatian islands, take a look at the boat lines that lead to the town that is best connected or closest to Istria. As we wrote, you have catamaran lines from Zadar to Pula, ferry from Split to Rijeka, etc.
