Lighthouse Veli Rat is situated on the northwestern cape of Dugi Otok island, 35 km west of Zadar. The lighthouse is surrounded by pine wood, nearby are numerous bays and a pebble beach, suitable for children. Lighthouse Veli Rat has the highest tower (42 m) of all lighthouses in the Adriatic and from the top of it you can enjoy one of the most beautiful views of the open sea. The lighthouse is in the great position to explore Kornati National Park or Telascica Nature Park. Dugi Otok has great connections with the mainland by ferry line Zadar – Brbinj so you can come here with your car as the lighthouse is at 20 km from Brbinj. Near the lighthouse there are no bigger shops, so it is recommended to either buy everything you need in Zadar or in some bigger village on the island (like Sali or Bozava). If you arrange it in advance, you can buy fish from the lighthouse keeper. The lighthouse consists of 2 apartments, one suitable for 3 persons and with a surface of approx. 41 m2. The apartment consists of triple room (21 m2), kitchen (14 m2), toilet with shower (4 m2). Another apartment is a bit bigger (approx. 48 m2) and consists of double room (16 m2), kitchen with sofa (22 m2), toilet with shower (7 m2). The lighthouse keeper has his own separate quarters.
